Preparing For Your Treatment

If you drink a lot of water each day (at least one and a half litres regular daily intake) then ignore this request.
If you have booked an Amatsu treatment, please wear baggy track suit type bottoms and a loose top. For other treatments, please wear comfortable clothes and of course, nice clean feet for Reflexology!
If you think you might be pregnant, please call me before attending your appointment.
When You Arrive For Your Treatment
If this is your first visit and depending on what treatment you have booked, you will have a medical consultation. As your therapist, I will require all medical information to ensure I approach your treatment safely and responsibly, however please be assured all records and conversations are totally client confidential.

What to expect
During your first treatment a detailed personal history is taken so that I can obtain a clear idea of the problem. Using a combination of observation, muscle testing annd palpation (touch), I will gather further information about the current condition of your body, before applying a combination of techniquees to suit your needs.
It is not unsual to feel different straight away although, some people feel the changes gradually over several days. Reactions to treatments vary also - some clients have a boost of energy whilst others feel tired. These reactions are simply your body's response to the Amatsu treatment. Remember to keep hydrated after the treatment.
Ear Candling
Quite different from conventional wax candles, a Hopi ear candle is actually a cotton tube, impregnated with beeswax, honey and therapeutic oils, that is painlessly inserted into the ear to draw out impurities, relieve pressure in the head and sinuses, and aid hearing problems.
The candles are made from natural ingredients that include sage, St John’s wort, camomile and beta-carotene. Otherwise known as thermo-auricular therapy, the original source of the technique seems to be from medical ceremonies performed by a native American Indian tribe called the Hopis (meaning ‘peaceful people’).
How does it work?
When lit, the ear candle is gently inserted into the client's ear. It generates a gentle heat which, when combined with the therapeutic oils, produces a light suction action. This is known as the chimney principle, and works by drawing impurities gently to the surface, where they can be removed.
Most deposits evaporate and are carried away through the candle ‘chimney’, but some are found in the condensed candle wax residue after it is removed from the ear. None of the candle residue actually goes into the ear.
What is it good for?
Users of Hopi ear candles have reported success in treating balance and inner ear problems, build up of wax, ringing in the ears, tinnitus, hearing difficulties and sinus problems as well as colds, ‘flu, sore throats, stress, headaches and migraines. The treatment is suitable for children and is a good alternative for people who have found syringing uncomfortable.
What are the benefits?
Many clients find the treatment relaxing. As well as the relieved feeling that comes from reduced pressure in the ears and sinuses, clients may experience a general calming effect.
What are the side effects and when should it be avoided?
Ear candles should not be used if there is any inflammation or infection in the ear and are not suitable for people who have had recent ear surgery, or those with ear grommets or tubes, perforated ear drums, or allergies to any of the products in the candle.
Anyone who is receiving medical treatment for any ear condition should always consult their doctor first. Some clients may experience headaches or light popping in the ears after treatment.
This treatment ususally takes 30 minutes and can be combined with a further 30 minutes of Reflexology (one hour in total).
Indian Head Massage
Indian Head Massage has been practised in India for over athousand years. Today, the technique used is known as "CHAMPISSAGE" (Champi is the Hindi word for Head Massage) and has been devised by Narendra Mehta - founder of the London Centre of Indian Champissage.
Blind since a child and with a highly developed sense of touch, Narenda Mehta has drawn on the skills evolved through the ages to provide a simple, safe and highly effective therapy.
The upper part of the body is particularly vulnerable to stress and poor posture. Tension accumulates in the neck, back, shoulders and head. Massaging these areas has a very potent effect - de-stressing the whole body.
Champissage works on a physical, mental and subtle level and promotes a feeling of relaxation and well being.
It was brought to England by Narendra Mehta in 1981.
The Beneifts of Indian Head Massage
- Relief is provided for conditions such as sinusitis and catarrh
- Indian Head Massage aids concentration and helps combat anxiety and depresssion
- At the end of a session the whole body feels relaxed and revitalised, and you are left with a deep sense of peace and tranquillity
Neuro-Linguistic Programming
Reaching Your Full Potential!
NLP is an amazing therapy which can really change your life and help you to achievehe dreams you thought were out of your reach forever!

The name Neuro-Linguistic programming probably brings images of complexity and it sounds like something that would be hard to grasp. It is not - it is so simple and will help you tomake small changes which add up to big changes in your everyday life.
By developing yourself, your skills and the way you use your mind, it will pay dividends for your future.
I can also guide and advise you if you are thinking about doing an NLP Practitioner Courses
The History of NLP
The first NLP book was published by Bandler and Grinder in 1975 but in the 1980s the two founders went their separate ways and the therapy developed into various methods and principles. NLP transformed from an alternative tool of psychotherapy to a form of psychological communication. Today, NLP is practised by many people including psychotherapists, hypnotherapists and medical healthcare professionals.
The term Neuro Linguistic Programming can be broken down into 'Neuro' meaning the mind or nervous system, 'Linguistic' meaning the use of language (both verbal and non-verbal) and 'Programming' meaning to alter a system of actions to achieve a planned result.
What We Do in NLP
NLP practitioners listen and examine verbal and non-verbal forms of communication. The way in which a person describes and displays their emotional or physical problem helps the NLP practitioner identify the individual's perception of that problem. The NLP practitioner can then help reprogram the mind to perceive the problem in a different way and help overcome it.
By studying ways in which other people do things well, an NLP practitioner can help a patient model themselves to do the same thing to a similar standard. Neuro-Linguistic Programming breaks down the component skills and methods that are required to achieve success and helps people apply them to their life.
Getting the Best From Your NLP Consultation
Before your appointment, I want you to think about what you hope to achieve with Neuro-Linguistic Programming and make a list of the problems you hope to overcome. We will already have spoken on the telephone before your first treatment and you will have outlined your reason for booking an appointment.
Your first treatment will take up to two hours to ensure we work through to the heart of your problem. It will be possible to consult with you over the phone or via skype after the initial consultation.
With NLP, the results are instant for some treatments and all are highly effective.
Call me to discuss how NLP can change your life - sounds a cliche but it is so true.
Reflexology
Reflexology has its roots in ancient Egypt, according to cave paintings, works on the principle that every organ and system of the body has a corresponding point or zone in the feet. For example, the spot in the centre of the big toe corresponds to the pituitary gland, and on the ball of the foot underneath the big toe there is a point that corresponds to the thyroid and parathyroid glands.
How does it work?
A reflexology practitioner uses light pressure to massage each of the points in the toes, feet and ankles to release tension, remove energy blockages, disperse accumulations of calcium and uric acid, stimulate blood circulation and promote healing of both body and mind.
What does it involve?
The practitioner will begin by taking details of the client’s medical history and lifestyle. The client will be asked to remove only their footwear. The client, fully clothed apart from their feet, will lie on a massage couch whilst the practitioner works on their feet and ankles.
Gentle pressure is applied to each pressure point and, where there are corresponding physical problems, the client may experience some slight discomfort and/or the therapist may feel some blockages in the area. For example, when the practitioner touches the reflex point that corresponds to the gall bladder, if the client has a problem with that organ, then some discomfort may be felt in the foot.
Generally, most clients report that a reflexology treatment is wonderfully relaxing and soothing, and many people fall asleep.
How Frequently Do You Need Treatments?
Each session will last about an hour and, in most cases, a series of sessions are necessary to resolve any problems. Some clients book a regularly weekly or monthly session as a preventative measure, to keep their systems balanced and in good working order.
What is it good for?
Reflexology can be used to treat a wide range of disorders including skin and respiratory conditions (eg. eczema and bronchitis), migraine, PMS and menopausal problems, chronic fatigue, stress, depression and anxiety.
What are the side effects and when should it be avoided?
Reflexology should be avoided during the fist three months of pregnancy. As part of the balancing process, some clients find that reflexology encourages the elimination of toxins from the body. Therefore, as this could interfere with any medication you are taking, it is very important to inform the practitioner of any medicinal treatment you are receiving.
Some clients report that, immediately after a reflexology treatment, they feel very relaxed and sleepy and just want to go home and lie down. Reflexology is suitable for everyone, except those people who dislike having their feet touched.
Reflexology For Babies and Children
I am a qualified to work with babies and children having trained in 2002 in the first European course of its kind.
Symptoms such as Collic, Constipation, Pain and Sleep pattern problems are easily solved with Reflexology. Call me to discuss how Reflexology might help your situation.
Fertility and In-Fertility
I have a solid record of helping couples to achieve the gift of parenthood. I work on a number of levels in this area including using Neuro Linguisitc Programming, Amatsu and working with other therapists locally - Acupuncture and Vega Therapy in particular. It is often necessary to work with both partners.
Once pregnant, Reflexology is a wonderful pre-natal treatment but I will not treat mother and baby until they reach week 14.
Reiki Healing
I incorproate Reiki into all aspects of my holistic treatments.
Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy, an energy which is all around us.
Natural Healing
Reiki is the name given to a system of natural healing which evolved in Japan from the experience and dedication of Dr Mikao Usui (d. 1926). Fired by a burning question, Dr Usui was inspired to develop this healing system from ancient teachings after many years of study, research and meditation. He spent the rest of his life practising and teaching Reiki. Today Reiki continues to be taught by Reiki Masters who have trained in the tradition passed down from Master to student.
There is no belief system attached to Reiki so anyone can receive or learn to give a Reiki treatment, the only prerequisite is the desire to be healed.
A Reiki Treatment - What To Expect
The method of receiving a Reiki treatment from a practitioner is a very simple process. The recipient simply lies on a couch and relaxes. If they are unable to lie down the treatment can be given in a sitting position, the ain thing is for the recipient to be as comfortable as possible. There is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki will pass through anything, even plaster casts. The practitioner gently places their hands non-intrusively in a sequence of positions which cover the whole body. The whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms. A full treatment usually takes 1 to 1½ hours with each position held for several minutes.
If you have any questions regarding of the above treatments please call me on 07879 405070.
Remember, the body has an incredible power to heal itself - as practitioners, we are just the facilitators- you do the rest.
With Love and Light,
Jo x
